Family outraged as Charles Zentai extradited

Comments:

CHARLES Zentai's family will appeal against a decision by the Rudd government to allow his extradition to Hungary to face alleged war crimes.

Home Affairs Minister Brendan O'Connor last night determined that Mr Zentai, 88, should be surrendered to Hungarian authorities to face prosecution.

Mr Zentai's son Ernie Steiner said it was a terrible decision.

"I cannot believe this has happened to an innocent man. He's done nothing wrong, absolutely nothing," he said.

"We'll have it reviewed in a Federal Court. I cannot believe this thing that's happened to him. It's just so wrong. I'm in shock."

Mr Zentai was detained in Perth's Hakea prison on October 23 after deciding not to appeal to the High Court over lower-court decisions allowing his extradition.
