TWO Spearwood brothers, aged 16 and 14, whom police allege burgled more than 12 properties when they should have been at school, were charged with burglary after their fingerprints were allegedly found at a burgled house.
Cockburn Detective Constable Matt Stone said the two appeared at the Fremantle Children’s Court on June 18 charged with 12 counts of burglary. They will return to court in July.
The boys were on a 24-hour home curfew and could not leave the house unless accompanied by their father, police said.
Police alleged the pair had been breaking into Cockburn and Rockingham houses between June 7 and 16.
Police said investigations were continuing into other burglaries and the boys, or other people of interest, could face further charges.
Police said many burglaries in the area had been committed using the same method – removing rear flyscreens and forcing windows until they opened.
If this failed, police said the burglars would smash the glass. Stolen items included electronic goods.
Const. Stone called on anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
